BRIAN SHORNEY Brian is Executive Chairman of Drew Associates Limited, having founded the company in 1992. Prior to this he had enjoyed a 30-year career in the UK Civil Service, having provided agricultural policy advice to Ministers and top officials for most of this time. He is an experienced agricultural administrator and has strong resource management skills gained over 20 years in a number of senior management positions. After an early career in agricultural consultancy, specialising in business management, he has managed multi-disciplinary teams of administrative, technical, scientific and professional staff involved in a wide range of rural sector activities. He has a detailed working knowledge of the administration of Government agricultural schemes including those relating to agri-environment and regional development. He
is very experienced in planning and implementing major organisational change,
particularly in relation to agricultural extension services, and also
in the planning, monitoring and evaluation of agricultural development projects. He
is an experienced trainer, having been involved in a range of training
activities relating to staff development and agricultural extension and the
identification of training needs, curriculum development, course direction and
