RICHARD MORDUE

Richard is a former senior public servant with over 30 years’ experience of economic and policy work with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF).  He has enjoyed an outstanding career as a professional agricultural economist and is highly regarded by his peers both nationally and internationally.  In the seven years until April 1996 he was the Director of Economics and Statistics Divisions in MAFF responsible for ensuring that Ministers and senior officials were aware of the economic consequences of policies and policy options across the whole range of MAFF’s activities.  Having headed MAFF’s Milk, Horticulture, and Conservation Policy Divisions he has deep experience in policy work and reviewing economic and policy developments.  He has particularly strong expertise in the analysis of options for the reform of agriculture and food policies.  

He has a thorough understanding of EU organisations, mechanisms and agricultural/economic policies.  During a highly successful and wide-ranging career, he has developed strong analytical, management, communication and inter-personal skills.  He has substantial experience of handling complex policy issues and of governmental decision-making processes.
